A lot of homes are build with a small bathroom, it always seem that the bathroom is coming in last when architect design a home, if you live in a house with a small bathroom there are several ways to make your bathroom look bigger

Here are some tips.

One. The WallPaper.
You have special wallpaper for bathrooms so that it doesn’t fall of the wall after your first shower, make sure that the patterns are small, especially when you have a small room, adding a border can give the illusion that the bathroom is bigger.

Two. Painting.
When you have a small bathroom it is better to use light shades and colors, you can combine two colors to create the optical illusion of the size of your bathroom but make sure that the paint you use is waterproof.

Three. Lights.
The lighting in you bathroom is very important if you want it to make it look and feel bigger, space out your fixtures so that you will get a optimum lighting effect, if you have access to natural lighting like a huge window or skylight then your in luck because that is a great way to make your bathroom look bigger.

Four. Bathroom mirrors.
When you use a old designers trick place mirrors opposite from each other it will give you the illusion that the bathroom is much bigger then it really is especially when you combine it with good a lighting strategy, when you have a bathroom window and you place the wall mirror at the opposite wall it will look like your bathroom has two windows instead of one, you can play with the bathroom mirrors and lighting to see what great effects you can achieve.

Five.The bathroom Wall Mirror.
Making the use of bathroom wall mirrors can be a excellent way to create the optical illusion of a lager bathroom, but you have to be careful with the lighting, when you use to much light you can get headaches and we dont want that do we?
If you use a lot of mirrors in your bathroom the changes are big that it will be getting overpowering, if you have a big bathroom wall mirror then it is best that you use softer lights like opaque bulbs or to place a dimmer between the lights and the power course, you will be thanking yourself when you wake up and go to the bathroom and have the comfort of soft lights.

Six. Bath Mats And Racks.
Dont overdo it with the bad mats and towel racks, if you have a small bathroom it can easily get overcrowded with stuff you dont really need, keep it simple, only use objects you really need to save space.

A small bathroom will never get really bigger but as you can see there are ways to make your brain think that it is and it is called optical illusion, use it.

Bathroom Remodel Cost Saving Tips.

Posted under Bathroom, Do It Your Self by Dave on Friday 12 June 2009 at 3:06 pm

Dave on Sunday 19 October 2008 at 1:14 pm
People love remodeling their homes and also their bathrooms, but now the times are changing with the credit crisis and the mortgage crisis and all that financial huba-buba going on is it still feasible to remodel your bathroom, in these bad times? Sure you can, even when you’re on a tight budget there is a lot you can do to remodel your bathroom let me show you how you could do it.

Set The Remodeling Budget.
When you are going to remodel your bathroom on a budget then the first thing that you need to be doing before anything else, before you browse the internet, before you visit the local home improvement stores, and that is setting the budget, you need to be knowing on forehand what kind of money you can be spending on your bathroom. Once you have set your budget it is time to start with the planning, what is it that you want, what is feasible within the budget, do you need the help of professionals or are you doing it all by yourself*.
Maybe you want to change some things in your bathroom like the toilet or sink all that stuff needs to be taken into account. if you have planned it all out you will have the total cost of the remodeling and if you’re lucky you will be within your budget if not you have to make some changes to the wish list.

Take It Step By Step.
When you want to remodel your whole bathroom but can’t really afford it there is a way to do it and that is step by step, look at your bathroom and see what you want to change first and do that, like if your bath tube isn’t what it use to be that then start with the bath tube when the bath tube is done you could move on to the next project in the bathroom, maybe the tiles or the toilet is next in line to be changed, New York wasnt build in a day either, the big benefit is when you remodel on a budget is that when you do it one by one, you can easily change the design, maybe you get a better idea or maybe you find a better or upgraded product that fist the budget. And when you have bought the whole bathroom at once your stuck with it.

Good Research Can Save You a Bundle.
When you’re remodeling your bathroom on a (tight) budget you will need to shop around in bathroom land and the easiest way to do that is by going online (like your doing right now) and compare all the prizes and martials, with a view clicks of the mousebutton you can everything from lighting to mirrors to bathtub’s and back, also talk to your local home improvement salesman or woman (yes a lot a woman know their stuff about remodeling) go see and feel the martials live, also when you are on a budget keep an eye and ear out for commercials of local shops that are having sales, you can save a significant amount of money by buying on sales and discount prizes.

You see that if you want to remodel your bathroom and you’re on a tight budget that it is doable, just keep the above points in your head and you’ll see how much money i just saved you, even if you’re not on a tight budget, because why would you pay more then necessary.

*Note Doing it by yourself can save you a ton of money, but be sure that you know what you’re doing, especially when you’re installing water and gas installations, if you don’t know how to install certain appliances then please for your own sake leave that to the professionals.

Garage Storage Shelves.

Posted under Do It Your Self by Dave on Friday 12 June 2009 at 2:59 pm

The garage is a great place to store all your stuff that you don’t use such as sporting equipment or things for your hobbies or you Christmas tree, but it can also used as a home office or guy room where you can have a extra TV to watch the game with your friend or you can use it its original purpose: car parking. What ever it is you use your garage for if you have it filled with a lot a stuff all over the place changes are you can just park you car and that is it, and that is why people invented Garage Storage Shelves, you can find Garage Storage Shelves in two forms: site-built and prefabricated.

Site Build Garage Storage Shelves.

Site build shelves are usually less expensive and you can adopt the size very easy to the shape and size of your garage.

Prefabricated Garage Storage Shelves.

These garage storage shelves can cost you more money but they can save you a lot of time building the shelves, you can even have a company come to your home to install these shelves for you.

Basic Garage Storage Shelves set up.

most of the basics of the garage shelves is created of a simple piece of ¾” plywood or a length of 1x or 2x lumber on a set of really strong shelf brackets. This is installed by attaching the brackets to the studs directly using long screws then by attaching the shelf to the brackets. To strengthen the shelf you can add a brace at each stud.

A different sort of Garage Storage Shelves are the once supported by the floor. One way is to run vertical 2×4s every 50 inches and letting them rest on the ground and binding them to the rafters or ceiling joists at the top.additionally, the 2×4s are run horizontally on edge ‘tween the verticals then a fiberboard is used to create the shelve. The most generally used dimensions are 19-25 inches for depth and the spacing between 2×4s is normally on 25 inches but naturally, these sizes can be modified to accommodate the size of the items that you’re storing.

For storing little items you should think of  the space between the studs. By binding a series of 1×2 strips horizontally to the interior edges of two adjacent studs close to 6 inches apart, chopping some 1×4 and 1×6 pieces of timber and fitting them ‘tween studs and slipping them on top of the 1×2s you can make some small adaptable Garage Storage Shelves. These are good for jars, cans and bottles and as well for other little and brightness items. The small Garage Storage Shelves are nifty for organizing and storing screws and nails and other small items.

The best selection when constructing ready-made Garage Storage Shelves is Steel shelving. Plastic shelving might be sufficient for storing lightWeight items but eventually you might need something more repellent for storing bigger items. One disadvantage of the steel shelving is that they can’t be cut to size so they’ve basic widths, depths and heights so you’ve to select something that
fits within your useable space.

Adjustability is another significant consideration in ready-made Garage Storage Shelves. Prefabricated shelves should be changeable to at least two different positions within the shelving framing and also the pins for changing the settings should be very strong and should have something in place for keeping them from coming loose or becoming unexpectedly dislodged.

A different thing to be taken into consideration when choosing for ready-made Garage Storage Shelve, particularly those designed for big loads of stuff, is that they may ask a wall attachment or other backup against tipping.
